About Robert Anschutz

Robert Anschutz A Ft. Worth native, Anschutz moved to central Texas, at an early age, when his father was transferred to Austin. After graduating from the University of Texas in 1964, he worked for a small graphic design firm where became interested in photography. In 1967, he purchased Photo Graphics and operated the business until 1993. In March of 2004, Anschutz relocated to Wimberley, TX, where he lives and works today.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: In August of 2014 Anschutz learned that 97 of his Texas Hill Country images had been selected to hang in the all new UTSW William P. Clements, Jr. University Hospital in Dallas, TX. The new facility opened in November 2014. The hospital is next to the existing UTSW Medical Center which will become a Teaching Center. As a commercial photographer, Anschutz worked for Ad Agencies, Real Estate Developers, The University of Texas, and various associations. He also covered many special events such as the Austin Aqua Festival, the Texas Relays, Youth in Government, The Longhorn Jazz Festival, and Bluebonnet Girls State. He helped produce the first cover for Texas Monthly, and has photographed every Texas Governor from Preston Smith to Rick Perry.

In the 80's, he co-founded the Austin Graphic Arts Society and served as it's first president. In '85 he begin publishing the Austin Creative Directory and added San Antonio in 1995. The Austin advertising agency owners honored Anschutz and his company, as Vendor of the Year and/or Vendor Person of the Year from 1980-1986, and in 2001 he was presented a Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Advertising Federation, Austin Chapter.

Today he concentrates on the beauty of the Texas hill country… from Landscapes to Longhorns. His work has been published by the likes of "Cowboy & Indians" magazine, "The Wimberley Guide", "Austin Monthly", and "The Texas Longhorn Journal". Five of his longhorns now hang in the Athletic Department of the University of Texas, and over 50 prints adorn the halls of the Deer Creek Nursing and Rehab Center in Wimberley, TX.
